Ques :The people in the story suddenly realise how precious their language is to them .What shows you this ?Why does this happens?

Ans:   When the order had came from the Berlin that hence froth only German would  be in school ,people realised that it is the last day to learn their mother tongue  to show their affection for the language , many elderly people came to attend school, occupying the last benches which usually remained vacant.
           Franz regretted having not learnt the participles when M. Hamel suddenly appraised them of the fact that they would become a laughing stock. Their language was their identity, the 'key' to their prison. The strongest evidence of how important their language became from M. Hamel's mesmerising "Last Lesson".

Ques : Franz thinks "Will they make them sing in German, even the pigeons?" What could this mean?
Ans: Franz makes this comment out of sarcasm when M.Hamel given the copies to the class for the writing lesson. The class was quiet and only sound was scratching of pen over paper. Then pigeons cooed very low on the roof. Then Franz thinks, "Will the Germans make the pigeons sing in German?" He put a question mark on the freedom of even birds under the German rule over Alsace and Lorrain.

Ques : Why M. Hamel was on special dress that day?
Ans : M. Hamel wears his special dress on inspection and prize day, but he was wearing it that day because it was his special day as it was his last day in his school.

Ques : What announcement did M. Hamel make? What was the impact of this on Franz?

Ans : M. Hamel announce this because the order had came from Berlin to teach only German in the schools of Alsace and Lorrain. Franz felt very sorry that he would not be able to learn French anymore. He regretted not learning his lessons. His books which has seemed a nuisance to him suddenly became very dear to him.

Ques : How did M. Hamel praise the French language?
Ans : M. Hamel called French the most beautiful language in the world. According to him it was the clearest and the most logical language. He wanted the people of Freance to guard ot amongst themselves and never forget it.

Ques : How is the monther tongue important/
Ans :  The mother tongue creates unity among the country men. M. Hamel rightly said that when people are enslaved as long as they hold fast to their language, it is as if they had the key to their prison.

Ques : What did Franz notice that was unusual about the school that day?
Ans : Franz many unusual things about school that day. Usually, when the school begun their was a great bustle which could be heard out in the street but that day everything was quiet like a sunday morning. His classmates were already in their places. His teacher M. Hamel had own his ceremonial clothes worn on on inspection or prize days. But the most usual was sitting quietly on the back benches.

Ques : What are the feelings of Mr. M. Hamel as reflected in the last part of the M. Hamel's lesson?
Ans : Mr. Hamel's patriotic feelings are reflected in the last part of the lesson as he bids touching farewell to the French men by writing "Vive La French" on the blackboard.

Ques : Whom did M. Hamel blame for neglect of learning ?
Ans : First he blamed the students for neglecting their learning as they had been procrestinating the  things thinking that plenty of time. Also responsible as they engaged their children to work on firms or mills instead of getting dam to learn. M. Hamel also blames himself too, because he allowed to go whenever he had personal to do.

Ques: Give the character sketch of M. Hamel.
Ans : M. Hamel emerges as a true guide facilitator and philosopher. He is very strict, disciplinarian. His image is as bad in front of his students. But he was very much dedicated towards his language and his nation, his last lesson really makes an indellible image in the mind of French men. After the order from berlin. He is very emotional and sentimental when he is not able to utter any words as bids a touching adiew.
